Dr. John Crider

Dr. John B. Crider is a board-certified family practice physician with more than 30 years of medical experience.

A 1988 graduate of The University of South Alabama College of Medicine, Dr. Crider served as chief resident at The University of Alabama School of Medicine and earned the prestigious William DeShazo Family Medicine Award and Student-Teacher Resident Recognition Award. He has maintained board certification in Family Medicine since 1991.

Dr. Crider has operated Family Medical Clinic in Arab, Alabama since 1991 while also serving on the staff at Marshall Medical Center North. Prior to locating in Arab he worked as an Emergency Department physician at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. He has served as a company physician to numerous businesses and organizations in north Alabama.

Dr. Crider contributes to the medical community as an adjunct faculty member at The University of Alabama School of Medicine and The University of South Alabama School of Medicine. He previously served on The University of Alabama School of Medicine's rural health admissions committee. He has lectured nationally with the American Academy of Family Physicians since 2002 on topics including cardiovascular health, cholesterol and preventive medicine, and is published in Medscape.

Dr. Crider is licensed by the State of Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and maintains a fellowship with the American Academy of Family Physicians and certification from the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a Select Care Physician Champion with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. Dr. Crider is also on the Board of Directors for the Accountable Care Coalition of Alabama, LLC, and the Cigna Healthspring Tennessee Valley Independent Physician Association.

A resident of Arab, Dr. Crider and his family have led medical missions trips to Nigeria, Uganda, Brazil, and Haiti. He co-founded a local benevolence ministry, Temporary Emergency Services of Arab, Inc. (TESA) in 1997 and is a former trustee of Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries.
